Dr. Sonya Okoli is an Author, Parent Education Coach and former College Dean who traded-in her velvet and golden robe to help families get strategic about higher education.
As Owner & Managing Partner of Colorfully Educated LLC., she has 13+ years of institutional experience from Harvard to Devry. Currently a College Success Instructor with Morehouse College's Elite High School Bridge Program (SMASH) where she teaches high achieving male students how to competitively enter STEM-related Institutions. Dr. Sonya is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Leadership Studies at Beulah Heights University where she mentors Ph.D. candidates. Beyond teaching, she has many years of research and grant funding experience in the areas of Urban School Policy, First-Generation Students and Minority Achievement Disparities.
With an unwavering commitment to influence education reform efforts while staying relevant, she is the Immediate Past President Georgia Higher Education Alliance, Member of the Georgia Women in Higher Education and Institutional Lead for the National Association of Colleges & Universities. To complement the many blazing trails, this highly sought-after Media Analyst and On-Air Contributor is often called upon to offer practical expertise to news outlets such as 1380 News & Talk, Georgia Public Broadcast System and The Atlanta Journal & Constitution. In addition to frequent guest appearances on V103 Radio and WSBCTV where she shares commentary on the policies and politics impacting families.
Complimenting many years of professional experience her credentials include B.A. in Sociology-Fisk University, Master of Arts in Education-Tennessee State University, Doctorate in Educational Leadership-Clark Atlanta University and Post-Doc in Multicultural & Diversity Studies-University of Georgia. Dr. Sonya is a proud member of the Illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. where she has committed to lifelong scholarship and service.
On top of all of her many accomplishments, she is most proud of the title wife to Dr. Ogechukwu Okoli a Decatur area Physical Therapist and mother of three beautiful children Adaora Kathryn (8), Amara Rose (6) and Arinzechukwu William (1).
